Acupuncture is a natural, non-invasive therapy that involves placing very thin needles into specific points on the body to help relieve pain, reduce stress, and improve overall wellness. It is commonly used for muscle tension, back or neck pain, headaches, and joint discomfort.
During an acupuncture session, a licensed practitioner will gently insert thin needles into targeted points on the body. Most patients experience only a slight pinch or tingling sensation when the needles are inserted. Sessions usually last 20 to 40 minutes, and many patients feel relaxation and gradual pain relief during or shortly after treatment.
Acupuncture can be used alone or in conjunction with other therapies to enhance pain relief and overall well-being. Multiple sessions may be recommended for optimal results, depending on your specific condition.
Acupuncture at the University Spine Center is currently a self-pay service. Some insurance plans, including Medicare, may cover certain treatments—please call us to ask.
